Israel prevent food-aid amidst Israel & Palestine Conflict

The United Nations agency chief Philippe Lazzarini reports the scene looked like a “looming famine” since the last time the The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) delivered aid to northern Gaza.

The UNRWA planned to deliver 10 convoys of food over the course of 7 days, however the attempt was suspended after chaos near the scene. Gunfire erupted, with the trucks being looted by the surrounding crowds.

The executive director of the World Food Programme, Cindy McCain, had this to say on X, “We’ve had to make the impossible choice to pause aid distributions in northern Gaza. There’s an incredible level of desperation against the backdrop of immense humanitarian need. A famine doesn’t have to happen. But if things don’t change, it will.”

Those within the northern Gaza territory resort to minimizing food usage, opting to cook flatbread over fire using only limited supplies of salt and assorted vegetables & fruits.

Over 29, 692 Palestinians have been killed, with 69,879 having been injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 2023.
