Cavite LGUs Receive Award for Child-Friendly Governance, Carmona bags 100%

Fourteen local government units (LGUs) in Cavite received accolades for their commitment to child-friendly governance during the Regional Awarding Ceremony of the 2022 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) held at the Carmona Community Center on Thursday, April 4.

The event, graced by esteemed personalities including Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) Undersecretary Angelo M. Tapales and Department of the Interior and Local Government 4A Regional Director Ariel O. Iglesia, recognized the exemplary efforts of LGUs across Cavite. Among the honored cities were Bacoor, Carmona, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Imus, and Tagaytay, while municipalities such as Alfonso, General Mariano Alvarez, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez Nuñez, Naic, Noveleta, and Silang were also lauded.

Tapales, in his address, highlighted the rigorous evaluation process, revealing that out of 142 municipalities audited in Calabarzon in 2022, only 63 LGUs successfully met the criteria for the SCFLG. He commended Carmona City for achieving a perfect score of 100%, underscoring its exceptional dedication to child-friendly governance. Additionally, LGUs from Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, and Rizal were acknowledged for their notable contributions to the cause.

The recognition illuminates the importance of focusing on children's welfare in local governance. These LGUs are expected to continue their efforts in creating supportive environments for children to thrive.
