PH Navy Chopper Crashes in Cavite City, 2 Dead

A Philippine Navy training chopper crashed near Cavite City Public Market early Thursday morning, April 11, leaving two Navy officers dead. The Robinson R22 trainer, reportedly the last in the Navy’s inventory, was forced to make an emergency landing at approximately 6 am local time.

The helicopter carried two pilots and departed from Sangley Airport for a routine training flight but encountered difficulties shortly after takeoff. Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft was flying unusually low before colliding with trees near the market. Fortunately, no ground casualties were reported.

Despite immediate medical attention, both officers succumbed to their injuries. An investigation into the cause of the crash has been initiated.

The incident underscores the risks associated with military training exercises and highlights the importance of safety protocols and equipment maintenance. The Philippine Navy expressed condolences for the loss of the officers and emphasized their commitment to preventing similar accidents in the future.

The crash serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by servicemen in the line of duty and the ongoing efforts required to ensure the safety and readiness of military operations.
